The Guthrie County Relay for Life is no longer just about the namesake walking event. Organizer Gigi Nelson says that there are many side events planned at Guthrie Center High School on the day of the relay, Saturday, June 27th. “We’ll have dancers that come in from Panora and Adair. The dance instructor from Panora is a cancer survivor. She has special music and the dancers do a beautiful job. A lot of people come out for that. We have a pie auction, too.”

Nelson says many area businesses donate items for a silent auction. “We’ll have oil changes and gas cards. We get an all-inclusive four pack of passes donated from the golf club — that’s always a big prize. That silent auction goes all day long.”
