National Poison Prevention Week is designated as March 15th through the 21st. Guthrie County Hospital’s Director of Pharmacy Dr. DeeAnn Wedemeyer Oleson says the week aims to educate children on dangers they may be unaware of. Oleson says part of the focus is teaching kids that medicine isn’t candy. “When you look at medications that we give to children and adults, they look neat and they often taste good. Vitamins especially have neat shapes. It is difficult sometimes for children to differentiate between medicine and candy.”
Dr. Oleson will be our guest today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County, which airs during the 9 am, noon and 5 pm hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com
