Perry Elementary School parents will hopefully have an easier time when dropping off or picking up their students from school next year after the School Board approved a contract for a new parking lot at their meeting Monday.
Superintendent Lynn Ubben says it has been a long process but they’re excited to move forward.
“It has taken probably at least a year of planning to see how we might do a better job of getting our parents in and out, our kids in and out, our staff. It gets kind of clogged up. If you’ve ever been around the elementary after school, you know it causes frustration for everyone because we have some of our physical plant things that just weren’t exactly how we needed.”
Ubben says when you build a building you do the best you can with all of the knowledge you have at the time. She says while the elementary is a great facility, as things change and you learn more, adjustments need to be made.
An $837,000 contract was awarded to Absolute Concrete out of Slater Monday. Ubben says the goal is to have the project completed by the start of the 2015-2016 school year.
