ADM star senior sprinter Kari Dufoe got her spring track season started early on Tuesday in Waverly, competing in the Co-ed Wartburg College Invite. Dufoe made the trip by herself, as the event’s organizers allowed one of the top sprinters in the state to participate against good competition despite the meet being ruled full.

Dufoe took first in the 55-meter dash, with a time of 7.27 seconds, edging Saint Ansgar’s Natalie Halfman by just over one-tenth of a second. Dufoe’s time in the finals was three-one hundredths of a second better than her preliminary time, which was also the fastest.

Halfman then got the better of Dufoe in the 200m dash, winning the event with a time of 26.03 seconds over Dufoe’s second-place time of 26.24 seconds.

Dufoe and the rest of the ADM girls track team will open the season together next Tuesday at Iowa State University.
