Iowa’s Third District United States Congressman David Young was in Guthrie Center yesterday for a lunch meeting with the city’s Chamber of Commerce. Young says he likes to venture around the district and meet with his constituents as much as possible when he’s back home in west central Iowa. “The House is on a break, and when we’re not voting, and we’re in recess, I come home to Van Meter. I get all around the 16 counties in the Third District. I’ll be able to hit just about all the counties this week. I go to chambers, farm bureaus, schools to read with kids, Kiwanis, Rotaries, touring manufacturing plants, anywhere to just get out in front of the people.”
Young says when he’s out in public, some of the most frequent comments he gets from constituents are criticisms of President Obama. “They want me to remind our President that we have a system of checks and balances. There’s a separation of powers, and to remind the President that he is the Executive Branch, and that he should not be legislating on policy.”
Congressman Young will be our guest today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County which airs during the 9 am, noon and 5 pm hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com .
