On Tuesday, a ceremony was held at the Greene County Courthouse rotunda to unveil the new 2015 logo for Relay for Life of Greene County.
Coordinator Peg Raney gave recognition to American Athletic, Incorporated and Spalding for creating the original design and donating the t-shirts that it will be featured on. She noted that the logo is the only one in the state that is an original design for Relay for Life. The logo was created by AAI and Spalding’s senior graphic designer John Sigler. Kristin Russell, human resources manager says this year’s logo was inspired by the Color Out Cancer 5K walk/run event.
“Peg Raney had told me that she wanted something that kind of played on the splattering of the ink and everything for the walk. And so we kind of played on that and John Sigler with his awesome talent that he has, put this design together for us.”
Raney said their main event will feature a barbecue lunch, the 5K Color Out Cancer run/walk, an honorary cancer survivor walk and a luminary ceremony that will end the day.
The main event will be on Saturday, April 25th from 9:30am to 2:30pm at the Greene County Community Center. There’s still time to sign up a team. Contact Raney at 386-2797 for more information. Click on the image below to see this year’s logo.
