The Perry boys basketball program looks solid heading into next year’s defense of the Raccoon River Conference Title. Despite losing 6 key seniors, Perry has a high number of talented players coming back led by 1st Team All Conference selection Shammond Ivory. Ivory led the conference in scoring averaging 23 points per game. Sophomore Kyle Nevitt showcased his talent in the final substate game scoring 27 points while junior Ryan Rathje provided a consistent threat from the 3 point line in the second half of the season.
“Yeah, we have a lot of nice kids coming back,” added Head Coach Ned Menke. “They must continue to work and get better in the off season. I think we all forget how tough it is to win a conference championship, how difficult it can be to get to the sub state game. We take those things for granted. You have to continue to work and develop and put in the time to get better. We have a freshman team that went 16-1 this year so we will have plenty of options for sure. We must now figure out a way to get past this final hurdle and get to the state tournament.”
