Everyone is invited to Paton this weekend for the annual Fireman’s Stag.
Firefighter Jonathan Marshall says the event will be at the fire station at 101 South Main Street starting at 5pm on Saturday, February 28th.
The evening will begin with a smoked pork chop meal with potato salad, baked beans and a beverage. Following the meal will be mock casino games with two craps tables and four blackjack tables. Plus, there will be two raffles. One is a cash raffle with the winner receiving $1,000, second place for $500 and third place for $250. The cash raffle is $15 per ticket with a limit of 250 to be sold.
Marshall talks about the other raffle.
“This year we are auctioning off a Henry Golden Boy .22(caliber) Firefighter Edition Rifle. Whoever the winner is will have to go over to Shooter’s Outlet in Arcadia and do the paperwork to actually receive the gun.”
The gun is currently on display at 209 Main Restaurant, where you can also purchase raffle tickets.
Proceeds from the event will go towards equipment for the volunteer fire department. Marshall points out that they finished upgrading their water tinder truck and are looking to upgrade the tires and purchase new firefighter suits this year.
There is a $20 cover charge for admission and the meal.
To purchase a ticket, you can contact Marshall at 515-559-6074 or any other Paton firefighter.
