Greene County senior Jordan Challen’s fourth place finish at the recent Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament is the best a Ram has done at a wrestling State Tournament since Chase Flack placed third in both his junior and senior seasons of 2010 and 2011. Challen wrestled the maximum six matches at Wells Fargo Arena and went four and two. Four of the six matches were decided by one or two points and he had the lead at some point in all six. The Rams’ 138 lbs. senior won 8-1 in the first round before losing in the quarterfinals 8-4. He won 6-4 in the second consolation round, won 5-4 in the third consolation round, and won 10-9 in the consolation semifinals before losing 4-3 in the third place match. This was the third trip to a state wrestling tournament for Challen, and the first time he earned a medal.
Challen finished with a 41-4 season record and he ended his career with 139 victories, fourth on the Rams’ all-time win list. Only Chase Flack, Travis Forkner, and Brandon Silbaugh have more career victories for the Rams than Challen.
