Swimming for Boone High School under a cooperative athletic sharing agreement, Greene County sophomore Nick Schroeder of Jefferson swam in two events on Saturday at the Iowa High School Boys’ State Swimming Championships in Marshalltown. Schroeder was nineteenth in the 100 yard freestyle in 49.53 seconds, and he swam anchor to go with three seniors on the 400 freestyle relay that finished seventeenth in 3:23.15. Schroeder entered the meet ranked number 23 in the 100 freestyle and Boone was ranked eighteenth in the 400 freestyle relay. Schroeder is the son of Jeff and Amy Schroeder of Jefferson. This was his first season of competitive high school swimming as he did not go out for high school swimming as a ninth grader.
Iowa City West won the team title. Boone did not score any points.
