A fine girls’ basketball season for Paton-Churdan ended abruptly in Anita vs. CAM on Thursday night in a Class 1A Region 2 quarterfinal game. CAM defeated P-C for the second time in three meetings this season, both in Anita, and the Cougars move on to the next round with 11 wins and 11 losses while the Rockets see their season come to an end with a 14-8 record by a 51-46 final.

P-C started with a scoring barrage and led 20-7 after one quarter, but had just four second quarter points and 10 in the third. A 12-point fourth quarter wasn’t enough to hold back the Cougars, who after a slow offensive start, had 10, 14, and 20 points in the final three frames. CAM tied the score at 35-35 with 7:16 to play in the game and took the lead for good down the stretch.

Carleigh Paup had 21 points for P-C with Kasey Lane adding 12. The Rockets went 8-2 in Churdan this season, but just 6-6 on the road.
