The Perry basketball teams will play their final girl-boy doubleheader of the season tonight when they travel to Boone for a 6:00 and 7:30 tip with the Torreadors.  The Perry boys team clinched a share of the Raccoon River Conference title Tuesday night defeating Bondurant Farrar.  Perry can win the conference outright with a victory night and/or a Carroll loss to Winterset.  If Perry loses tonight and Carroll wins, then both the Bluejays and Tigers would share the Conference Crown.  Perry defeated Carroll twice during the regular season.

Perry defeated Boone 71-45 back on the January 16th but Head Coach Ned Menke says this is a much better Boone team now that is playing due to a couple of new players that weren’t part of the rotation earlier in the year.  Tonight’s match up will be a precursor to the 3A District opener one week from Monday when these two teams meet in a 6:30 tip at Gilbert.

“We’re not going to hold anything back.  They know what we are going to do and I have watched six or seven games and have a pretty good feeling on what they want to accomplish.  I just hope we can come out both nights and play good basketball against them.  Tonight will be a touch match up because they will have the emotion of senior night and we will have to match their energy level and not have any type of let down following Tuesday’s big win.”

The Perry Jayettes will wrap up their regular season tonight when they look for the season sweep of Boone.  The Jayettes defeated Boone 45-39 in a hard fought battle back in mid January.  Perry enters play 15-6 on the season and will be looking to build a little momentum before a week long layoff leading up to their Regional opener.  The Jayettes earned a first round bye Wednesday night and will not return to action until the following Saturday when they host the winner of Winterset and Des Moines Hoover.

Shawn Kenney will have the play by play on KDLS and raccoonvalleyradio.com
