A 20 year-old Perry man faces several charges, including three felonies, after marijuana plants were found in his home.

Police Chief Eric Vaughn, says his department executed a search warrant at 1306 Evelyn Street in Perry around 8:45am Tuesday, after receiving information that someone was growing marijuana in the house.

While looking through the home, officers found approximately 20 marijuana plants, along with additional evidence that the drugs were being grown in the residence, such as marijuana in various stages of drying, lighting, buckets of dirt, different forms of fertilizer and information on how to grow marijuana.  In addition, police also found several containers of the drug that had already been processed and labeled for sale.

Dakota Kai Nicolaisen was home at the time the warrant was executed.  He is charged with two counts of failure to affix a drug tax stamp, manufacturing marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver – all class D felonies.  In addition, Nicholaisen also faces four misdemeanor counts of unlawful possession of prescription drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and Mid Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force assisted with the case.
