Greene County’s wrestling team placed fourth in Class 2A Sectional 16 on Saturday at Humboldt and advanced four wrestlers to the Feb. 14 District tournament at 12 p.m. in Webster City. Senior Abe Yoder (132), senior Jordan Challen (138), and junior Tommy Bradshaw (145) won individual titles, while sophomore Hunter Ruth (195) placed second. The top two individuals at each weight class move on to the district tournament. The Hampton and Humboldt sectionals combine to form the Webster City district. Each first and second place finisher at the District advance to the Feb. 19-21 State Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Pocahontas Area won the team title in Humboldt with 223.5 points and Webster City was second at 220. Humboldt had 204 with Greene County at 153, Southeast Valley (Gowrie) 128.5, and 28 points for East Sac County (Lake View). Poki advanced eight (4 firsts, 4 seconds) to the district with WC advancing six (3 firsts, 3 seconds), Humboldt six (2 firsts, 4 seconds), and four from SEV (2 firsts, 2 seconds).

The three Greene County sectional champions are rated in the top 10 at their respective weight classes by the predicament.com. Bradshaw is 35-3 and ranked fourth, while Challen is 35-2 and rated number six. Yoder is ranked ninth and has a 35-5 record. Ruth has a 20-13 record. The trip to the District is the first for Ruth, the second for Yoder, and the third for both Challen and Bradshaw.
