Last night wasn’t a very good night for Guthrie Center basketball as both their boys and girls teams got beat bad at home against talented Van Meter teams. The Guthrie Center girls had scored just one point going into the locker room at half time, and would ultimately lose the game to Van Meter by a lopsided score of 12 to 53. Joci Smith led the Guthrie Center charge with five points.
The Guthrie Center girls lost by 41 points, the Guthrie Center boys lost by even more than that. The score of the boys game was 39 to 81. Guthrie Center had three players with 9 points a piece; Jared Berger, Jared Baier and Grady Laabs.
In other conference news, the Panorama girls clinched a West Central Activities Conference title win with a 61 to 37 victory at Ogden. The Panorama boys beat Ogden 54 to 50. And, both West Central Valley teams fell at Des Moines Christian; the girls losing 37 to 69, and the boys losing 25 to 64.
