The idea of the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Department eventually absorbing the Guthrie Center Police Department, and providing law enforcement for the City of Guthrie Center is still alive after the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors agreed with Guthrie Center Mayor Kunkle that the plan and financials related to it were at least worth looking into. Both the county and city agree that the formation of any 28E agreement would be a long process, because they are starting from scratch. The next step for both parties appears to be forming a committee, that committee forming a plan, and then presenting that plan to the citizens of Guthrie Center.
