2015 greene county supervisorsThe Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday.

The Supervisors approved a $5,000 Louis Dreyfus request for the Scranton Community Center.  Doug Hawn with the steering committee said they will use the funds to help install ceramic floor tiles in a meeting room, put wooden frames on brick walls and filling them with foam and updating the electrical.  Other projects include converting the music room into a media and youth center and installing new basketball hoops in the gym.

Sheriff Steve Haupert presented his 2014 report to the Supervisors.  He said they responded to 2,080 calls for service in the county.  Grand Junction had the most calls at 44%, Scranton was at 23.2%, Churdan had a total of 16.9%, Rippey was next with 7%, Paton had 6.2% and Dana was at 2.7%.  There was a slight increase in the number of inmates in the county jail.  There were 360 inmates for a total of 59,810 hours and 6,035 meals that were served.  For the K-9 Unit, Haupert notes that Leo searched 87 vehicles, five buildings and had six school searches for a total of 12 cases where evidence was found.  The K-9 also helped to seize 14 pounds of marijuana, 5.5 ounces of meth and 3 grams of cocaine.

The Supervisors then ended their meeting in a budget workshop.
