For the second straight season, the Paton-Churdan basketball teams are en route to winning seasons. Coach Chris Stimson’s boys are 13-3 overall and 13-2 in Rolling Valley Conference play and they’ve already clinched a winning season. Coach Chris Petersen’s girls are close to achieving that goal with a 10-6 record on the season and 10-5 in the conference. Prior to last season, having one team attain a winning season wasn’t easy, let alone both squads.

Tuesday was a scheduled off night for the Rockets, but they were in make up action on Monday at Adair-Casey with the boys winning and the girls falling to the Bombers.

The P-C boys beat A-C 71-55 behind double figure scoring from four players. Noah Juergensen scored 24 points with 14 apiece from Dylan Burgart, Jake Carey, and Joe Towers. A-C led 37-33 at halftime, but the Rockets put up 18 points in the third quarter and 20 more in the fourth. Emitt Wheatley led the Bombers with 23 points.

Carleigh Paup scored 29 points, but the Rockets lost to A-C by a 69-54 score. The Bombers led 32-20 at intermission. Miranda Plowman scored 19 points for A-C.

Next up for the Paton-Churdan teams is a trip to Glidden on Friday, Jan. 30 to face the Glidden-Ralston teams.
