The ADM wrestling Tigers split a pair of duals Tuesday night at the Perry Sports Pavilion, defeating Boone, 48-24, and falling to the host Blue Jays, 41-32.
Picking up wins for the Tigers were seniors Zach Ostendorf and Jesse Huen, junior Kyle Wilkerson and sophomore Cole Bennett. ADM also picked up a net 18 points in forfeits, as the Toreadors forfeited five matches while the Tigers forfeited two.
After sitting out against Boone because of those forfeits, ADM’s ranked wrestlers, juniors Nathan Heath and Hunter Gibson, both picked up victories via fall against Perry. Ostendorf and Bennett completed their evening by picking up their second victories as well.
Unortunately for the Tigers, forfeits decided the 11-point loss to Perry, as ADM gave up a net 12 points in forfeits.
For the second straight competition, ranked ADM wrestlers Trevor Harsh and Zach Johnston did not wrestle due to injury. Tigers head coach Justin Schmauss told Raccoon Valley Radio he is holding the wrestlers out to preserve them for the postseason, saying if it were Sectionals, he would allow them both to wrestle.
The Tigers have a quick turnaround with another pair of duals Thursday in Grinnell at Grinnell and Pella.
