Greene County defeated North Polk and South Hamilton (Jewell) in Alleman on Thursday night in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference wrestling. Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams were 42-36 winners over the Comets and they defeated SH by a 40-19 score. Greene County is now 8-9 in dual meets and 3-4 in the HOIAC.
The highlight match of the night was at 138 lbs. when SH senior JD Rader defeated Greene County senior Jordan Challen 3-1 at 138 lbs. Rader, rated second in Class 1A, improved to 22-0 this season, while Challen, ranked sixth in 2A, fell to 25-2.
Greene County wrestlers going 2-0 on the night were Abe Yoder (132), Tommy Bradshaw (145), Mark Kendall (170) , and Keydetn Pollock (182). Kane Borgeson won by fall at 106 vs. NP, but moved up to 113 vs. SH and lost by fall. Isaac Irearland (120), Challen, Isaiah Yoder (160), Jamie Theulen (220) and George Zito (285) were 1-1. The Rams were without Cayden Gerdes due to illness and Hunter Ruth because of injury.
