Following a brief break from conference action, the ADM girls and boys basketball teams are home tonight against nearby Raccoon River Conference rival Winterset.
The ADM girls will be looking to avenge a 52-41 loss to the Lady Huskies on Dec. 5 in Winterset. Since that game, Winterset has gone 4-5 and sits in fouth place in the conference standings with a 4-3 mark against Raccoon River opponents.
In the first matchup, the Tigers were understandably focused on slowing down Huskies senior Mariah Criswell, a University of Northern Iowa commit who averages 20 points per game. ADM limited Criswell to 13 points on just 2-of-13 shooting.
The Tigers (4-9, 2-5 RRC – 6th place) were instead burned by a combined 25 points from junior Molly Eyerly and sophomore Erika Shahan, and poor offensive of their own – ADM shot just 29 percent from the floor.
The ADM boys, meanwhile, will be looking to complete the season sweep over the Huskies, who they beat 73-66. Since then, both teams have trended in the wrong direction and occupy the cellar of the Raccoon River Conference standings. ADM and Winterset have combined to go 2-20 since their first matchup, with ADM in sixth at 2-5 in conference games and the Huskies in last with an 0-7 mark.
Pregame coverage of tonight’s doubleheader on K107 and raccoonvalleyradio.com begins at 5:45 p.m. The girls game will tip at 6 and the boys game will follow.
