In a budget request and report to the Guthrie County Supervisors on Tuesday, County Treasurer Marci Shreck reported that a good portion of her department’s revenue was from the work they do for the State Department of Transportation, but they receive just a small portion of that; approximately $144,000 compared to the $3.7 million they sent to Des Moines in the most recent fiscal year. Shreck says they keep a small percentage of registration, transfer and lien fees, and also get some of the money back in the form of road use taxes.
