One of the issues Governor Terry Branstad brought up in his State of the State address last week is bullying and how to put an end to it.
House District 19 State Representative Ralph Watts of Adel says while he agrees that something needs to be done, he doesn’t think a proposal like the one brought up last year is the right solution.
“Last year the governor proposed that the authority of school can extend off of school grounds after school hours for non-school events. I have a particular problem with that one. I don’t believe the government should be getting in between parents and children in hardly any case. This situation I think is something that will be interesting to see how it pans out.
Representative Watts says he plans to keep a close eye on the issue as he anticipates it will be one that is fought hard this session.
