At tonight’s home varsity Greene County girls basketball game against CMB, Baxter will be plenty of opportunities for people to support great causes.
Head Coach Chad Morton says it’s their annual Pink Out night in the fight against cancer. The players will be wearing their pink jerseys, there will also be a silent auction and “Pink Out” t-shirts will be for sale. He talks about a special activity that they will do before their game.
“Before the game, we’ll sign a basketball with somebody’s name on it that we know that is either fighting cancer or who has fought cancer. So everybody will be playing for somebody that night and it is a great cause and it’s a good thing for our girls to think about (and) playing hard for somebody that they care for.”
Proceeds from the basketball fundraisers will partly go to local organizations and part for Relay for Life of Greene County.
The cheerleaders will also have a bake sale and a miracle-a-minute where they pass around a bucket and people can put their change in it. Deb Marquardt says they’ll be doing the miracle-a-minute in between the girls and boys games. All proceeds from the cheerleader fundraisers will go to Relay for Life of Greene County.
The girls game will start at 6pm and the boys game will follow at the middle school gym in Jefferson.
