Since the cold weather has hit in Greene County, Wild Rose Jefferson remains to be on target and has enclosed part of its facility to continue construction.
General Manager Mike Couch says the south part of the building where the casino and offices are located is temporarily enclosed with crews working on pouring concrete floors and staying warm with commercial heaters. Next, the north end of the facility with the convention center and restaurant will follow the same process once the south part is complete.
He talks about the next steps after that.
“Well anything more on the outside would be more concrete work and then some semi-light stuff like adding light poles, things like that would be the exterior, in the parking lot areas. But inside, they got to get concrete, framing and then drywall and painting and things like that. So its kind of the general progression for the inside.”
Couch points out that the weather hasn’t affected their construction schedule too much and that they are on target to open by this August.
However, Cobblestone Hotel was suppose to start construction last month and nothing has been developed. Wild Rose Jefferson owns the ground but partnered with Cobblestone Hotel to let them build a 71-room hotel that is attached but separate from the casino facility.
Mike Mumma with Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation says there were some details in the ground lease agreement between Wild Rose and Cobblestone and that agreement has been submitted to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission for final approval before construction can begin later this month.
