Ever since the legislative session started earlier this week,the gas tax has been a frequently talked about subject, and State Representative Clel Baudler wants to make sure all of his constituents are informed and know how the current gas tax is even set up in repairing the State’s roads, “State gets 47.5%, counties get 32.5%, cities get 20%. The counties is broken down, 24.5% to secondary roads, and 8% to farm to market.”
In Governor Branstad’s Condition of the State speech earlier this week, he mentioned repairing Iowa’s infrastructure, including roads and bridges as a major priority, which could include a possible reworking of the gas tax.
