For as bad as things got for the ADM boys basketball Tigers on their six-game losing streak, they’re still well alive to secure a decent place in the Raccoon River Conference standings.
The Tigers enter Tuesday night’s conference doubleheader at Carlisle just 2-8 overall but 2-3 in the conference, including a 2-0 mark on the road with wins at Winterset and Boone. The Wildcats have the same conference record, so the winner of this game will keep pace with the top half of the conference, while the loser will face an uphill climb the rest of the year.
ADM will try to bounce back from a disappointing loss at Harlan on Saturday. The Tigers defense struggled all evening in the 77-56 non-conference defeat. But one player who did not disappoint is leading scorer and sophomore guard Matt Larson, who poured in a team-high 17 points.
Over his last three games, Larson has averaged 16.7 points per game on 18-of-28 shooting from the floor, including 10-of-16 on 3’s. The recent three-game tear came after a four-game shooting slump.
“He’s a good offensive player; he’s put a lot of time into it,” said ADM head coach Aaron Mager. “And so I was hoping and assuming he wouldn’t be in a funk very long. He’s just too good of an offensive player to stay down very long.”
Pregame coverage of our ADM basketball doubleheader begins at 5:45 p.m., with the girls to tip at 6 and the boys game to follow on K107 and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
