The ADM girls basketball team returns to practice today after taking the last four days off. The Tigers had a pendulum-like finish to the pre-winter break portion of their schedule: their 65-42 demolition of Carroll on Dec. 12 was followed up by a blowout loss to a ranked Ballard team last Friday.
At 3-3, ADM has had some definite positives through the first third of the year, like the consistency of sophomore Sydney Bertman and senior Kenzi Sutton and a propensity for coming up with steals that lead to transition buckets.
But after the loss to Ballard, head coach Corey Schneider detailed his plan for winter break practices, saying that above all else, the Tigers have to improve their play against full-court pressure.
“We definitely have things to work on now. Not that we didn’t before, but some more glaring weaknesses. We’ve got to come out and get more physical, run our sets a little bit better, work on our press breaking, because we’re going to see the same things.
“I mean there’s enough film going on around now, that people know that we’re struggling to handle the pressure at times. Just things we need to work on and clean up a little bit.”
ADM’s next game is right before the start of classes, at home against Dallas Center Grimes on Sat, January 3.
