Jefferson Woman Faces More Felony Charges
A Jefferson woman will face more felony charges for forgery.
Police Chief Dave Morlan says 23 year-old Hayley Lynn Brown is charged with a Class D Felony for three counts of forgery. Brown is accused of stealing checks from a residence in Scranton and cashing them for money on December 7th and 8th.
We’ve previously reported that Brown is facing additional felony charges for ongoing criminal conduct, forgery, burglary, unlawful use of a credit card, identity theft and unlawful possession of prescription drugs from incidents that occurred from July 30th through August 13th.
Court documents show that Brown’s trial date has been cancelled and a pretrial date for her previous charges has been scheduled for January 12th. It is during this time that she is expected to enter her plea. The report also shows that she had her 81 additional counts of unlawful use of a credit card dismissed due to them being incorporated into the pending case.
She was serving a two-year probation sentence for an unauthorized use of a credit card conviction from earlier this year. Because she violated her probation, she was sentenced to a residential facility to continue to serve her probation sentence.
Jefferson Woman Faces Several Drug Charges
A Jefferson woman faces several drug charges from an ongoing investigation by the police department.
Police Chief Dave Morlan says 28 year-old Nicole Lynn Johnson is charged with a Class D Felony for forgery-aiding and abetting, aggravated misdemeanor for child endangerment, serious misdemeanors for nine counts of unlawful possession of prescription drugs, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine and marijuana and simple misdemeanors for possession of drug paraphernalia and fifth degree theft.
Charges stem from an executed search warrant on December 2nd at 106 ½ East State Street. Morlan states that officers and deputies recovered several drug-related items and stolen checks and prescription drugs from another residence in town.
Morlan notes that Johnson was booked into the Greene County Jail and then was transported back to the Carroll County Jail where she is being held for probation violation.
Morlan points out that more charges are pending the completion of their investigation and that another suspect is being considered in the case.
Greene County Community Foundation Grant Applications Available
The 2015 grant applications for the Greene County Community Foundation are now available.
President Tim Heisterkamp says any non-profit organization can apply to receive a grant for the 2015 grant cycle. Once applications are submitted by the deadline, Heisterkamp notes that their 31 member board will deliberate and come to a decision of what projects will receive grants by early April.
He points out that this past April, they awarded $132,000 in grants, but had over $300,000 in requests for projects, so not every organization receives funds.
Applications can be found at any Greene County library, at the Greene County ISU Extension office or by clicking HERE. Grant guidelines are also available at those locations.
Deadline to submit applications is by 4:30pm on February 12th to the Extension office in Jefferson.
Suspect Makes Plea, Faces Sentencing Next Month
One of three suspects will receive sentencing in connection to a drug investigation by the Jefferson Police Department.
According to the Clerk of Courts office, 33 year-old Heather Thelma Ott of Jefferson pled guilty in district court this week for a Class C Felony charge for her second offense for conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine. Charges stem from an executed search warrant in November 2013 in which suspected stolen property and narcotic-related items were recovered. Ott’s sentence hearing will be on January 23rd.
41 year-old Frederick James Lonsdale of Rippey is another suspect in the case. He is charged with felonies for conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine and possession of meth and misdemeanors for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He is awaiting his trial date, but he violated his probation for stealing a car earlier this year. He was transferred from the Greene County Jail to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Oakdale, Iowa.
The final suspect is 45 year-old Anthony Rothmeyer from Grand Junction. He is charged with felonies for possession of meth and marijuana and a misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. Warrants have been issued, but he hasn’t been arrested.
