When learning a new language, there’s no substitute for real-world experience, and the Panorama High School Spanish Club got to experience just that on a recent field trip to a Guthrie Center Mexican restaurant. The twelve students visited the new Via restaurant where the staff spoke to them in native-spoken Spanish, they ordered their food in Spanish, and held the dinner conversation in Spanish. Michael Geneser is Panorama’s High School Spanish teacher and said he and his students appreciated the effort by the wait staff to recreate the type of situation people would face when ordering a meal in a typical Spanish speaking country.
