The Jefferson Post Office is constantly busy this time of year making sure to get your holiday packages to and from your home in time for Christmas.
Postmaster Peg Erickson says the final day for packages to be guaranteed to make its destination by Christmas is this tomorrow. It is for any package that is sent by priority mail. She adds that they also offer express one-day mail as well for a higher charge.
The post office will remain open for normal business hours through Christmas Eve Day. Erickson points out that for the first time in five years, they will have their business window open until 5:30pm that day when it normally closes at noon.
Erickson notes that if you’re expecting a package for Christmas and it hasn’t arrived yet to your home, you can call the post office at 386-2061 and ask them to hold onto it and you can pick it up at their office.
She comments that they are dedicated to making sure that everyone receives their Christmas gifts on time.
The post office will be closed on Christmas Day.
