The ADM girls basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a blowout win over Carroll on Friday, establishing positive momentum toward this week of practice.

With no disrespect meant toward Carroll, ADM faces a much tougher test tomorrow evening in Huxley when they take on the No. 4-ranked  and 7-0 Ballard Bombers girls team.

ADM head coach Corey Schneider told Raccoon Valley Radio his team didn’t suffer from a false sense of security after the handy victory over a Carroll team that did not win a game last year and has just one win so far this season. To beat a team like Ballard, Schneider said ADM must execute to near perfection.

Part of the gameplan for ADM is keeping the score down and running some clock. ADM likes to get out and run, but as Schneider said, the Tigers will have to be smart about it against a Ballard team shooting 47 percent from the floor and a Class 4A-best 39 percent on 3-pointers.

“Well, I think it’s one of those situations where we’re going to have to pick and choose where we run because if it gets into a shootout, we just don’ have the offensive firepower to match up with them,” Schneider said. “So we do have to keep the score somewhere to where it’s actually manageable for us.”

Ballard’s 54.6 points per game rank two spots ahead of ADM’s 54.2 per contest. The Bombers have won their games by an average margin of 23.6 points, their smallest margin of victory being by 11 points, which has happened twice: Dec. 9 vs. Pella and in Tuesday’s 50-39 win over Dallas-Center Grimes.

Our coverage of the girls game at Ballard begins at 5:45 p.m. tomorrow on K107 and raccoonvalleyradio.com. The girls play in the front end of a doubleheader, with the boys game to follow.
