On Sunday, Jefferson resident Jeff Lamoureux was announced as the Associate Director for Habitat for Humanity of Boone and Greene Counties at their annual fundraiser.

He will soon have an office in Jefferson and will handle the local low-income home repair and construction efforts.

Executive Director Erich Kretzinger says Greene County is about ⅓ the population size of Boone County, but in the last five years, Greene County has surpassed Boone County with projects for low-income housing.

He notes that by having Lamoureux staffed in Jefferson, they can reach more people in the county.

“Not only will we be able to serve more families around the county, but we’ll also be able to become a resource for all sorts of housing solutions.  And that’s really the goal always is make sure everyone has a decent place to call home.”

Lamoureux was most recently the parks and recreation director for the City of Perry and he was also the parks and rec director for the City of Jefferson for ten years.  He also has experience in business-to-business and consumer sales.

He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa after serving in the United States Navy.

He has a wife Jill and they are married with four school-age children: a son named Reid who is a high school junior, a freshman daughter named Regan and twin daughters Kassie and Kirsten who are in the 7th grade.
