The Greene County High School girls’ basketball team begins the 2014-15 season tonight with its longest road trip when the Rams face PCM in Monroe. KG98 will broadcast the second game of the JV/varsity twin bill with coverage starting around 7:15 p.m. The Mustangs are ranked number 12 in Class 3A by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union in preseason rankings released last week. PCM has already played a game, losing 54-47 to Class 4A Knoxville.

C0ach Chad Morton’s Rams will be looking to improve on last season’s 9-13 overall record. The 2013-14 team was 8-10 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. Six seniors and two sophomores are expected to comprise the varsity team this season. The seniors are Stacy Mears, Kayla Mobley, Hannah Onken, Marissa Promes, Tressa Rasmussen, and Jolee Wessling. The sophomores are Kenna Marquardt and Hanna Promes.

After tonight, the Rams next two games are also a long way from home as the Greene County teams play girl/boy doubleheaders in Colfax vs. Colfax-Mingo on Dec. 2 and in Baxter on Dec. 5 vs. Collins-Maxwell-Baxter.
