Wells Fargo Bank in Jefferson recently donated $2,000 to the Greene County Fair Foundation for their capital building project.
The Fair Foundation wants to replace all three of its livestock buildings including swine, sheep and cattle. Fair Board Secretary Doug Hawn says they are currently replacing the swine building. He believes each of the livestock buildings is pretty close to the original building when the fairgrounds were first constructed in the 1930’s.
Hawn points out that the old swine building has been torn down and the ground has been prepared. He expects the building to be delivered in the next 2-3 weeks. The new swine building will be 120-feet-by-72-feet. It will have removable swine pens so that they can use it for other functions and to store vehicles in the winter.
The total cost of the swine building is $180,000 which Hawn believes they are 75% funded for that project. They are also planning on replacing the sheep and cattle buildings in the next 2-3 years.
Fair Board Secretary Doug Hawn is thrilled with the support they’ve received so far and adds that if anyone wants to donate to their project or make a pledge, they can contact him at 515-370-0107. Checks can be made payable to the Greene County Fair Foundation.
