perry signA currently vacant lot in Perry may soon be home to several families, that’s if a rezoning request gets approved by the City Council.

“It has been vacant for a long time.  It just to be an area that had a grain elevator on it and that’s been tore down for probably 20-25 years.  We have a company looking us that wants to put multifamily housing in there.  So it needs to be rezoned from central business district to multifamily” says City Administrator Butch Niebuhr.

He adds that the Planning and Zoning Board has recommended approval of the rezoning, though the project needs to happen for the change to remain in effect.

“One of the criteria for that is that project has to actually happen for that zoning to happen.  If it doesn’t happen it will stay as that central business zone.”

A public hearing on the rezoning request will be held at the next Council meeting on December 1st at 6pm in the Clarion Room of the Security Bank Building.
