The West Central Valley girls basketball team got great experience this past weekend, being able to face Des Moines Roosevelt, a huge city school, in scrimmage competition. West Central’s Head Coach Drew Stonewall admits that while his girls were outmatched by Roosevelt’s sheer speed and size, it was an excellent opportunity, “It was really good. I’m glad we had the chance to play them. They had a big advantage size-wise, especially inside. And they had some girls that were a lot more athletic than us and really made us work on defense. And i think it was really good for us to be faced with that kind of challenge, and I think we got better because of it.”
The Wildcat girls face off against Griswold at 5:45 in a Jamboree tonight at Harlan. Admission is five dollars for adults, and three dollar for students, but with a canned food item or non-perishable item, adults can get two dollars off admission, and students can get in free.
