Greene County High School head wrestling coach Mark Sawhill is optimistic his team can come close to filling all 14 varsity weight classes at some point during the 2014-15 season. That would be quite an accomplishment considering the Rams have had no more than 17 at the first few practices. Coach Sawhill added for the Rams to come close to having someone at all or most of the weights, several things will need to happen including everyone being healthy and eligible. There’s also the possibility that one or more wrestlers would need to move up a weight from where they normally wrestle. Right now, individuals and the coaches are trying to figure out who is going to be at what weights. Tryouts will likely take place next week in advance of the Dec. 2 season opening non-conference double-dual with Ogden and Van Meter in the middle school gym in Jefferson.

On the plus side, it’s been a few seasons since the Rams have been able to fill the lowest two weight classes, but that appears to have changed. The coaching staff reports they have wrestlers at 106 and 113 in the practice room.
