The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Board met yesterday in regular session.
The Board approved a preliminary budget to be recommended to the City Council for the 2015 fiscal year. Some of the projects that were included are painting the swimming pool and making some minor concrete repairs for $28,948.90, replacing a lifeguard chair for $2,995 and having Americans with Disabilities Act complaint steps for access to the swimming pool for $3,230.29, replacing the fitness area and hallway flooring at the Greene County Community Center for $18,656.80 and a new grave truck for the cemetery department for $51,995. The City Council will have final say on what is approved for the parks and rec budget.
The Board also approved their recommended wish list of items for the Hess fund. They are asking for $6,637.94 to trade-in a Cybex treadmill for a newer model, another concept 2 rower machine, a set of seven kettlebells and a set of four Power Systems medicine balls. The Hess Fund Board will have final approval of the items.
The Board approved to renew the terms of president Steve Haupert and board member Lee Horbach to the Board.
They decided to table their decision about letting Greene County Medical Center public health use one of their rooms to hold a Better Choices, Better Health six-week class pending more information.
Other discussion items included getting more bids about replacing the lights in the gym at the rec center, a building a new concession stand at the softball field. No action was taken by the Board on either topic.
