Hospice Care month isn’t the only observance during the month of November.
As Katie McIntyre with HCI Care Services explains, it’s also a time to increase awareness about Home Care as well.
“Home care is all health and social services delivered in a private residence. A lot of times people associate that with elderly, but it’s all the for disabled, recovering, chronically or terminally ill and even children. Some of the services include medical, nursing, social, therapeutic and pain management treatment, but we also help with activities of daily living so those would be bathing, dressing, cooking and household chores” says McIntyre.
While home care isn’t just for older people, McIntyre says that is a large group that continues to grow.
“Right now our population is aging and as individuals are living longer it’s going to be more important than ever that they have these cost effective options to be able to stay in their homes if that’s their wish.”
The HCI Care Services home care program serves patients in Dallas County, while the hospice care program serves both Greene and Guthrie Counties as well.
