Class 3A District 7 football all-district selections were announced yesterday on Raccoon Valley Radio. Greene County finished in third place in the district and had seven players on the 42-person all-district team with another five being named honorable mention all-district. Graduation will take five of the 12 away from Coach Dean Lansman’s program, but seven players with some type of all-district recognition will return.

All-district players Dylan Hamilton, Joe Doran, Alex Rasmussen, Jake Carey and Jordan Challen are seniors. Matthew Gordon and Keyden Pollock are all-district players and both are juniors. Four of the five Rams’ honorable mention picks are juniors and one is a sophomore. Kicker Nick Schroeder is in tenth grade, while Ben Lint, Tyler Beger, Noah Juergensen, and Daric Whipple are juniors.

Greene County went 4-6 this season, but 4-2 in Class 3A District 2. The Rams lost in the opening round of the playoffs in Creston to Creston/Orient-Macksburg, and the Panthers are still playing. C/O-M meets Bishop Heelan of Sioux City, 2013 State Champion, in Thursday’s semifinals in the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
