With a much better turnout in this year’s midterm election versus last year’s August special election, voters in Dallas County still failed to pass were two separate bond referendums to build a new law enforcement center and county administrative building.
Though Proposition A did get more Yes votes than No, it failed to get the 60 percent necessary for the referendum to pass. Just over 51% of ballots were cast in favor of borrowing 16.3 million to build a new jail and law enforcement center in Ortonville.
Proposition B for an 11.8 million bond referendum for a new county administrative facility on the east side of Adel was even less successful, receiving less than 46 percent of the vote.
Last year the single bond referendum for both projects failed to get the sixty percent approval rating necessary to pass.
Overall voter turnout for Tuesday’s election in Dallas County was 62 percent.
