greene countyOne last reminder for Greene County residents that the Auditor’s office will be open tomorrow for those who will not be able to make it to the polls on election day.

Greene County Auditor Jane Heun says they will be open on Saturday, November 1st from 9am-5pm.  Absentee ballots play an important role in the election process in that it gives every eligible voter a chance to vote that is not available to do so on election day.

Heun comments that Greene County has had very good voter turnouts during the last presidential and gubernatorial races.  During the 2012 presidential election year, there was about a 70% turnout with about 2,050 absentee ballots.  The 2010 gubernatorial race had about a 55% turnout with 1,200 absentee ballots cast.

As of Wednesday, the Auditor’s office reports that there have been 1,470 absentee ballots submitted.

Those that want to vote early can anytime today at the Auditor’s office during normal business hours from 8am-4:30pm, Saturday from 9am-5pm and Monday from 8am-5pm.  A final reminder for those still needing to cast their absentee ballot by mail must have it postmarked by Monday, November 3rd.
