Nominations for the second annual DAISY Award at Greene County Medical Center are due soon.
The DAISY Award is given to a nurse that performs superhuman tasks everyday in their jobs. The first recipient at the medical center was Jenny Taylor.
Chief Nurse Executive Katie Heldt says the 13 nominees had a positive experience during their inaugural ceremony in August.
“I think the most impressive thing was the number of nominations that we received and how surprised the people who were that were nominated. And getting to hear what they were nominated for was very emotional. And I think that it brought a sense of reality to them (the nominees) of what I do is truly appreciated.”
Nominations forms are available both online and at the medical center. Any nurse in any department is eligible to be nominated and anyone can fill out a nomination form. A selection committee of five individuals will go through the process of choosing the next DAISY Award recipient.
The winner will receive a certificate and a “Healer’s Touch” sculpture from Africa.
All nominations are due to the medical center by November 1st. The next ceremony will be held on November 20th.
