halloween1As children scurry around town this evening collecting as many treats as possible, it’s important to remember a few simple things that can help keep them safe.

Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn says supervision is one of the key things to remember.  He encourages parents to join their children, or at least make sure the younger kids are accompanied by an older sibling or trusted adult.

Chief Vaughn says it’s also important to make sure children are visible to both other kids and motorists and recommends using glow sticks, flash lights or reflective material on darker costumes.

Other safety tips include parents inspecting candy before kids eat it and only stopping by homes with their outside lights on.

We’ll have more with Chief Vaughn on today’s Let’s Talk Dallas County during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on AM 1310 KDLS.
