marketing meetingEarlier this week, another marketing plan meeting was held in Jefferson about attracting more people to Greene County in conjunction with the economic opportunities coming in the next few years.

Economic Development Director Ken Paxton says they discussed more details of putting together a cohesive marketing plan to attract individuals who are between the ages of 50-65 and who like to learn about historical information, rather than attracting pure shoppers.

Another proposal was presented by another ad agency, Buss Creative who works with Wild Rose Entertainment.  Paxton points out that the group will evaluate their proposal and one from Blue Space to decide on what company will help lead them in putting together their final marketing plan.  He talks about where the funding will come from when a decision is made at next month’s meeting.

“And it would go through the (Greene County) Chamber and they would use the tourism funds that come out from our hotel/motel tax.  Our hope is once we’ve shown some success, then as the casino money comes in and there’s more available that we could probably add to that budget to expand our marketing plan.”

Other information at that meeting was an update about using drone video of different tourism locations and structures throughout the county and trying to get that video put together by the time the Iowa Tourism Trade Show happens in Des Moines on November 13th.

Paxton comments that there will be representatives from the county and Wild Rose Entertainment at that trade show to draw initial interest in what the county has to offer for tourism attractions.

The next marketing plan meeting will be on Wednesday, November 19th at 7pm at the Sierra Community Theatre in Jefferson.
