Jefferson’s City-Wide Clean Up Week Is Next Week
A reminder for Jefferson residents that the city-wide clean week is next week.
City Administrator Mike Palmer says city crews will pick up different types of materials, along with regular garbage, on your normal pick up day from October 27th through the 30th.
Accepted materials include yard waste which must be placed in biodegradable bags and not in garbage cans. Stickers are not required during the city-wide clean up week on yard waste containers. Tree trimmings and other brush are to be staked in arm piles with the cut ends facing the curb so that crews can chip it easier, but whole trees will not be picked up.
Any appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers and air-conditioning units will be picked up for a $40 fee and metal that it cut into five-feet lengths or smaller will be picked up for free.
Furniture, carpet, padding or windows will be limited to be free hopper loads and anything beyond that, a resident will be charged $25 per hopper load. The same applies to construction debris and lumber which must be cut into lengths not exceeding five-foot.
Palmer points out that any materials a resident wishes to have the City pick up, must be separated into piles of similar items or it won’t be collected.
Materials must be at the curbside by 6am on your normal collection day to ensure pick up. Anyone with questions can call City Hall at 386-3111.
Wild Rose Jefferson Remains On Schedule, Despite Setbacks
Some weather-related complications have caused some setbacks, but construction plans remain on schedule for Wild Rose Jefferson.
Raccoon Valley Radio previously reported earlier this month that construction crews were installing the precast concrete walls for their 70,000-square foot facility. Last week, strong winds blew down some of those panels, but new ones were poured and transported to the site at the northwest corner of US Highway 30 and Iowa Highway 4 within a few days.
Chief Operating Officer Tom Timmons hopes to get all the steel erected and have the $40-million structure enclosed before winter.
The facility remains to be on track to open by August 1, 2015.
Along with the construction project, Wild Rose is also going to provide 275 jobs with an estimated $7 million payroll. Officials say there will be a job fair held next spring in which available jobs and the descriptions will be posted and the company will accept resumes and potential employees can fill out applications. More information about the job fair will be available at a later date.
