The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference went ahead with its conference coed cross-country meet on the Iowa State University course in Ames on Monday despite non-stop rain, wind, and cold. Gilbert won both team titles with the Greene County girls third and the boys seventh.
On the girls’ side, Gilbert had 17 points with 92 by North Polk (Alleman), 108 for Greene County, Colfax-Mingo 142, CMB (Maxwell) 146, South Hamilton (Jewell) 156, PCM (Monroe) 171, Nevada 180, Roland-Story (Story City) 184, and Saydel (Des Moines) 253.
The Gilbert boys had 27 points with CMB 94, Saydel 95, NP 112, Nevada 113, R-S 129, Greene County 197, PCM 219, SH 226, and C-M 272.
The top finisher for the Greene County girls was Olivia Hansen in thirteenth place. Emily Christensen was 21st, Eme Johnson 22nd, Emily Finch 25th, and Noelle Gray 27th.
The Greene County boys were led by Logan Egeland’s seventeenth place finish. Landon Braun was 40th, Kane Borgeson 44th, Ethan Woodruff 46th, and Abe Yoder 50th.
Greene County closes the regular season on Oct. 16 in Des Moines at the Saydel Invitational.
