Healthcare professionals are optimistic that this flu season will be mild one, and we’re off to a good start. Stephanie Claussen with Adair County Public Health says there hasn’t been much activity so far this year, “We haven’t seen a lot of activity, so it is hard to tell, but last year was kind of a mild season, so we’re hopeful that this year will be as well.”
Claussen added that behavior of the general public is a partial factor each flu season, “As long as people stay home when they’re sick, keep washing their hands, cover their cough, and get their annual flu vaccine, those things will all help”.
A flu vaccine is recommended for any individual aged 6 months or older.
