The high school volleyball season for the Greene County Rams enters the second half with the Rams starting to build a little momentum. Coach Donna Carhill’s team is 8-7 overall and 3-2 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference action. The Rams are in the midst of a 34-day stretch without a home match, but so far, so good. Greene County won conference games on the road last week at Monroe vs. PCM, and in Colfax vs. Colfax-Mingo. Next up is another road test, this time in Des Moines at Saydel High School tomorrow night. The Tuesday match will be the only one this week for the Rams with Homecoming activities taking up the rest of the week.

The remaining HOIAC games for the Rams are all on the road, so if Greene County is to finish high in the conference, it will have to continue to get victories away from Jefferson. The Rams meet conference opponent Gilbert and non-conference Boone in Boone on Oct. 7, followed by a trip to Alleman vs. North Polk on Oct. 9, and a journey to Jewell vs. South Hamilton on Oct. 14 to close out the HOIAC schedule. The two conference losses are to rated teams Nevada and Roland-Story (Story City).
